WORKSHOP NEWS!Friends, Fans, and students of Art and Life!! This amazing 4 day workshop combines the powerful processes of Free Expression Painting and Mindfulness meditation. No experience is necessary in either discipline. Mindfulness meditation is a simple technique for learning to “rest” our minds in acceptance of the present moment. Free Expression Painting is an incredible practice for discovering your own unique creative voice through the use of very simple tools and mediums. Central to the process is the understanding of how we can let go of judgments that block our authentic expression and prevents us from being present in the creative moment where we need to be to make a personal and powerful artistic statement. If we can successfully hear and allow our judgments and release them, our creative practice becomes a practice of simply accepting what occurs in any given moment. As in meditation practice we gently bring ourselves back to the now, the present moment and rest in awareness, rest in “the process”. We focus on the brush and the paint on the paper or we focus on the breath and in either practice stay grounded in awareness of the body. From this place of acceptance and non-preference we find our true creative self, the self beyond the “stories” of the ego. We discover parts of ourselves we had not known and stories that expand and release our true creative voice.
